As part of our commitment to making this subreddit the safest and most transparent place for animal welfare fundraising, we are introducing a significant update to our Cardinal+ Verification System.
The biggest change we are launching today is the Mandatory Prior Authorization (PA) process. This new front door for our community is designed to protect donors, support legitimate rescuers, and stop fraud before it starts. Think of Prior Authorization as a "probationary period" that helps our moderation team get to know you and your rescue work better. By establishing a trust history through a shorter, controlled window, we can ensure that our community remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
We truly understand that these new layers of policy and extra form sections might feel like a lot of extra "red tape" or bureaucracy. When you're on the front lines of rescue, the last thing you want to do is fill out more forms. We truly sympathize with the extra effort this requires from our hard-working rescuers.
However, a core feature of the Cardinal+ system is its detailed bureaucratic framework. We believe that detailed policy and clear procedures are the most effective tools we have to ensure every dollar donated goes exactly where it is promised. We are committed to standardizing these administrative checkpoints and to creating an environment where donors feel confident and legitimate rescuers can truly stand out from the crowd.
