We are thrilled to announce that Emma is officially joining our team as an Associate Administrator, Partnership Engagement & Events!

Emma brings a rich background in community management and event planning as the owner of the World of Wildlife Discord server (4,000+ members). Her experience includes executing cross-server collaborative events, running community game activities, and building external partner relationships with organizations such as r/zookeeping and ethical safari programs in Tanzania. A zoology student with hands-on wildlife rehab and research experience in Ecuador and South Africa, Emma brings both field experience and a passion for ethical animal care to our team.

In her new role, she will lead outreach efforts, manage relationships with external partner networks, and coordinate community events and educational Q&A showcases—helping us broaden our reach while protecting vulnerable animals and supporting rescuers.

As an Associate Administrator on our team, Emma will lead efforts to expand our network and keep our community engaged. Here is what she will be focusing on:

Getting to Know Emma

Tell us about your background and some of your accomplishments before joining /r/AnimalRescue.

“I am a current zoology student from the UK, with a background in volunteering with wildlife in rescue and rehabilitation settings. I have conducted primate research in the Amazon, and I care deeply about proper animal care and welfare. I have worked in zoos and previously studied animal management in college, so I gained tons of valuable knowledge and experience about looking after our animals and wildlife.”

What drew you to /r/AnimalRescue and inspired you to apply?

"I am mostly on Discord and just got Reddit solely for the /r/AnimalRescue and /r/zookeeping communities because they are the most wholesome communities out there! As a nature & wildlife Discord community owner myself, and as a server partner with /r/AnimalRescue, I feel that this community really resonates with me, my server (World of Wildlife), and our values."

As a newbie, what are your first impressions of our community and brand?

I love the r/animalrescue community and everything that it stands for. I think having a space for finding and easily accessing those helpful resources, and a place to share experiences and stories, is a beautiful thing among animal lovers who just want to help animals in need.

What are you most excited to work on at?

“I am most excited to bring the animal and rescue community together through fun events and activities across a range of incredible communities found on Discord! From educational animal workshops to animal trivia, I'm hoping to do it all.”

What kind of community events are you most excited to organize for us?

"I’d love to organize a community conference-style event involving career professionals—including zookeepers, wildlife rehabilitators, vet students, and zoology/conservation students like myself—for Q&As, discussions, and educational panels to provide insight into careers in the animal industry and inspire our members!”
