We read every application thoroughly. Don't worry about sounding corporate —sound like you. Use the open-ended questions to show us your genuine excitement for animal welfare, community building, or safety.

Consistency matters much more to us than a massive number of hours. If you can only log on for 3 hours a week because of heavy coursework or a job, tell us! We design our workflows to be asynchronous, and knowing your true availability helps us build a more balanced team.

Before your initial sync, spend a little time hanging out in our subreddit and reading through our pinned guidelines. Having a baseline understanding of how the r/AnimalRescue community operates day-to-day will give you a major confidence boost when chatting with our team leads.

Your journey begins the moment you review our open roles and decide to hit submit.

Once you submit your application through our Google Form portal, it doesn't vanish into an automated screening program.

If your application aligns with what we're looking for, a team lead will reach out to schedule a brief, casual check-in via Discord, Reddit, or email.

From the moment you submit your application to an official onboarding decision and training, the timeline typically ranges between 1 and 3 weeks, depending on our current queue volume. We value thorough, human-driven review over rushed automation.
Do not lose heart! Because we receive a high volume of brilliant applicants for limited open spots, we frequently have to make tough choices. Many of our current core team members applied more than once. We encourage you to keep engaging positively with the community, build up your familiarity with our guidelines, and apply again during the next cycle.
Absolutely. In fact, most of our team members do. Our operations are built around asynchronous workflows, meaning you can log on and contribute your hours whenever it fits your weekly schedule. All we ask for is consistent, reliable communication.
Yes. We are completely committed to an accessible application and onboarding process. If you require any specific accommodations due to a disability, neurodiversity, or other technical limitations, please let us know during your initial sync or reach out to a senior team lead via modmail as early as possible so we can best support you.
No. While working in animal rescue spaces means occasionally encountering difficult situations, our Junior Moderators are not dropped into high-stress or sensitive cases without preparation. Our structured training and mentorship phases are specifically designed to build your confidence gradually, and you will always have the backing of senior administrators for escalation.
